The 9th edition of the Black Star International Film Festival will take place in Accra, Ghana from Tuesday the 17th of September 2024

In addition to the regular servings of movie screenings at the Silverbird Cinemas inside the Accra Mall; there will also be a mouthwatering variety of options on offer , including, but definitely not limited to, masterclass sessions, BSIFF EDU workshops , The Africa Film Market, Shorts On Shorts, a cultural tour of Accra, and a creatives hangout, just to name a few!
What message does BSIFF have for us ahead of this year’s edition?
The Festival’s Director, Philippa Bentuma Arthur, emphasized the festival’s role as a vital platform for amplifying Black and African narratives, fostering creativity, building connections, and pushing artistic boundaries. She also highlighted the unique structure of BSIFF, which is entirely managed by volunteers.
“This festival is made possible by the incredible efforts of our advisory board, core team, and project team—passionate volunteers who have worked tirelessly with me over the past five years,” Bentuma said. “Their dedication ensures that we provide valuable opportunities such as networking, film education, and skill acquisition to filmmakers and creatives.”
What movie will open this year’s Black Star International Film Festival?
The movie with the distinction of setting the ball rolling for BSIFF ’24 is PAWN, starring Adjetey Anang, Sika Osei, Gloria Sarfo, Lydia Forson, Nikki Samonas, Richmond Xavier Amoakoh, Prince David Osei and Nana Gyasi Owusu!
