Fashion and style exist in every fabric of life, and yet it’s always refreshing and mind-blowing when someone’s immense talent, skill, and work ethic stays ingrained in not just your memory, but also constantly in your line of sight. And that’s exactly what Naa Lamley Annang has achieved through her Naa Lamley Kouture brand.
Who is Naa Lamley Annang, and how do we know more about her brand? Well, Jamie says…
Born on the 1st of February 1989, Miss Annang has been one individual who’s clearly seen where she wants to go and stopped at nothing to achieve her set goal. Once she started showing early signs when she began making miniature dresses for her dolls at the age of 8, it surprised no one when Naa Lamley started sketching her own designs for her seamstress to deliver her desired look.
The alum of both The Services Basic School and University Practice Senior High School; decided to take her love of designing clothes up a notch … when she graduated from Accra Technical University; with a diploma in Fashion Design and Textiles; and then added with a Bachelor of Technology degree also in Fashion Design and Textiles from the same institution (certificate issued by the University of Cape Coast). She then proceeded to start her business, Naa Lamley Kouture (officially in 2013 but she’s been at it since 2010), and she hasn’t looked back since!
With regards to her creative process, she states her inspiration literally gets sparked from any element around her, at any given time! She’s currently at least 7 international shows, from Kenya (Entrepreneurial Fashion Week), to Tanzania (Swahili Fashion Week) and South Africa (AFX) on the continent, and most notably Italy (Taormina International Fashion é Shooting)
And she’s not just an amazing fashion designer!
Naa Lamley Annang also runs the NLK Foundation, which seeks to make an impact by supporting not just people living in orphanages (and under underprivileged people in society), but also single mothers such as herself. Indeed, it’s worth noting that a third of each sale she makes from the NLK fashion brand goes into the foundation, while its CSR, dubbed the Love Donation, will be having its third edition on the 4th of December 2021.
